Civilians being injured in crossfire between insurgent groups and the security forces
The Iraq War

An ongoing conflict, which has been termed as the Iraq War, "Gulf War II", or the "Second Persian Gulf War”, began on March 20, 2003 with the United States-led invasion of Iraq by a multinational coalition composed of U.S. and U.K. troops supported by smaller contingents from Australia, Denmark, Poland, and other nations.

But shortly after the initial invasion, violence against coalition forces and among various sectarian groups led to strife between many Sunni and Shia Iraqi groups, and al-Qaeda operations in Iraq. Estimates of the number of people killed range from over 150,000 to more than one million.

As a Singaporean, I feel that I am lucky not living in a war-zone like the people living in Iraq and having luxuries that they may not have the chance to have in their lifetime. Their lives are disrupted by war for 5 years now…first by invading forces now it’s by insurgent groups who are supported by terrorists. Human rights abuse case are a norm over at Iraq so I would feel that its lucky that human rights abuse cases doesn’t happen to often in Singapore and I also feel safe due to the government planning in such a way that the multi-racial population in Singapore would stay peaceful and not have any racial hatred against any particular race or religion.
