This picture depicts a scene of the result of an earthquake. I presume that this earthquake was the recent Sichuan earthquake that happened in China as I can tell from the face of the woman that she is a chinese. In the background, I can see chunks of bricks and scraps of metal lying all around, it is probably the debris of a collapsed building. From that, I infer that the impact of the earthquake was tremendous as it had collapse the building which is probably the woman's house. That might explain the reason why her face was filled with distress.From the picture, I can see that the woman's face is creased with agony. She is probably devastated by the event of the disaster. One of her hand is reaching backwards. If you look closer, there is an unconscious man under the collapsed structure. The man might be the woman's husband. This may be another reason why she felt so anguished as she can only helplessly watch her husband being crushed by tonnes of debris. As the rescue team has not arrive, I think that the man will not survive long unless miracle happens.
I believe that the event of the Sichuan Earthquake has inflicted physical and psychological damage not only to the woman from the picture, but to all the people around the world. This disasters have lead to thousands of death and destruction. However, the greatest pain was instilled to the survivors of the disaster as they have to face the deaths of their loved ones and think of ways to carry on with their lives. Psychological wounds are the hardest to heal and it will take a long time to erase this hurtful memories.
